Bath-gladiators-granted-entry-into-franchise-rugby-league

We are thrilled to share that the Bath Gladiators will participate in the newly established Franchise Rugby League starting this season. This development marks a significant milestone in our club’s history, as we embark on a journey from community club to semi-professional status.

Since Chris Chatten founded the club, we have competed in various community leagues. We believe this is the right time to transition to a more professional structure, ensuring not only the preservation of the Bath Gladiators but also the growth of rugby league in the south west of England.

After our return to the field in 2021, following the COVID-19 pandemic, our season was unexpectedly cut short due to the collapse of the West of England league. This happened when Gloucester AllGolds, Reading, and Worcester Jaguars withdrew from the competition.

In 2022, despite gaining entry into the Southern Conference, we made the difficult decision to sit out the season. This choice was driven by our commitment to upholding the integrity of the amateur community game, in response to player poaching and payment accusations against the Bristol AllGolds.

Over the past year, we have dedicated ourselves to fortifying the Bath Gladiators’ foundation, working tirelessly to ensure a promising future for the club and the continuation of rugby league in Bath.

As we step away from the community game, our sights are set on a more ambitious future. We eagerly anticipate league matches against Valencia Huracanes and the other talented teams in the Franchise Rugby League. This new chapter promises excitement and growth for the Bath Gladiators and rugby league.
